HISTORICAL INSPIRATION

The Aegean Amethyst Cabochon Drops are inspired by the long history of coloured gemstones in the ancient Mediterranean. Purple stones were prized for their depth of colour and ability to catch the light, while cabochon and polished gemstone forms allowed the natural beauty of the material itself to remain visible. Rather than reproducing one specific archaeological jewel, Shinar takes inspiration from the tradition of wearing precious stones simply and prominently. A smooth oval natural amethyst becomes the centre of the design, held within a restrained golden setting that allows the stone to speak for itself.
